Red Moon Blue Moon

Red Moon, Blue Moon was composed in the spirit of the poetic travel journals by the medieval Chinese. Unlike the Chinese, these brief, imagistic poems trace a path into our remnant wilderness and seek a connection with our more primal self.

Mist from a cascade
beads on our skin like rain.
We want to drink it
from our flesh.

As Ovid said, and these poems affirm, “there is something animal in the earth,” and there is something animal in us, too.

“Baldwin is a modern H.D., or should I say William Carlos Williams or Sappho, whose pure imagery, succinct speech, and pathos grip the reader. He is to be read and heard.”
